Why do I have to study IT?

This qualification will enable you to learn about the different design tools that can be used, the principles of human computer interfaces and the use of data and testing when creating IT solutions or products. You will also understand the uses of Internet of Everything and the application of this in everyday life. You will develop the skills to plan and design a spreadsheet solution to meet a client’s requirements. You will be able to use a range of tools and techniques to create the spreadsheet solution which will be tested, and you will learn to evaluate your spreadsheet solution. Finally, you will develop the knowledge and skills relating to the purpose, use and types of Augmented Reality (AR) in different contexts and how it is used on different digital devices.

 

How will I be examined?

You will study three mandatory units: Assessment Overview:  There are three units that students will be assessed on.

Teaching prior to these units prepares students to produce work of the highest standards.

  • Non Examined Assessment (NEA) Projects are 12 hours independent work to be carried out with in lessons (each worth 60 marks)

  • Unit R060: Data manipulation using spreadsheets project (60 marks) NEA Assessment

  • Unit R070: Using Augmented Reality Project (60 marks)  NEA Assessment

  • Unit R050: 1 hours and 30 minutes end of Year11 examination (70 marks)

 

The result from the exam taken in the final series will be the one that counts towards a student’s overall grade. Grading All results are awarded on the following scale: 

  • Level 2 – Distinction* (*2), Distinction (D2), Merit (M2), Pass (P2)

  • Level 1 – Distinction (D1), Merit (M1), Pass (P1)

 

What will I study?

  • A deep understanding in the use of IT in the digital world and how to apply design tools, principles of human computer interactions, the use of data and testing, cyber-security and legislation when creating an IT solution or product
